Current Trail Conditions
UPDATED THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2010 @ 10:30 AM
Most of the trails in town are bare, the gate on the bridge between Montgomery and Main street will be closed today. If you want to ride there is still lots of snow on Bear Spring and Campbell Mountain, but it is advised to truck your sleds there. Please stay off the bare trails, especially someone's lawn that is bare, it will just tear it up and make a muddy mess.
"Do it 'til it melts!'"
IMPORTANT!!! - With state budgets being as tight as they are, its very important to use the "sign-in registries" when you ride in Bear Spring Mt or Campbell Mt. These sign-ins boxes are located near the parking lot at the top of West Trout Brook and Spruce Grove in Bear Spring. Our club had signs put in place last season as a reminder. This data is definitely being looked at by the state and they need to see how many snowmobilers are using these trails. All it takes is for one person to sign-in and enter the numbers of people in their group. We cannot stress enough the importance of doing this. Support Your Sport!!!

Hamden Trail
On JANUARY 05, 2010 Erik Johnson Writes: Ok folks the Hamden trail is broke all the way to Telford hollow. 3-4 inches of snow on the low sides and about 7-10" on the top. Use caution there are rocks underneath and it's rough until we get more snow. But go out and enjoy yourself. Thank you to the land owners for making this happen.
Thanks for the help
Thanks to the 2 guys who pulled my wifes sled out of the ditch. The trails were smooth my family really enjoyed them it was the first time they were there and we will definitly be back.
Do you have any parking areas
Do you have any parking areas for visitors to your system? Would be coming from oneonta.
Parking Areas
Coming from Oneonta, you could use Rt 206 to the top, across from the radio station, Beers Brook Rd Parking. This will put you right at the top of W Trout Brook Rd; in the Bear Spring Mtn. State Park. Or, go to the next right turn, E Trout Brook Rd, and follow the road down to Spruce Grove Camping Area. Across from the campsite there is a parking lot. Others opt to go directly to The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant in Downsville and unload their sleds in the rear parking lot. From there you can access our trails also.
You're Welcome Chris!
That was Bob Smutek and Charlie Elmore (both DVRR Club Members) who helped your wife. Come back and ride with us soon!
New Trail This Year
There's a new trail off of trail 2 that is downhill to E Trout Bk Rd, and comes out just below Launt Pond. After crossing the rd., it takes you uphill (steep), parallel to trail 4, and comes out on Fork Mtn.
Downsville Gas Trail
The gas trail is all cleaned up and ready to go. A small reroute has been posted between Montgomery Ave. and the field across from County Route 26/Knox ave. Please observe the signs, you will find this new route much better, you will no longer go through the tight fence line and will now use the fields that go around the houses. Please stay on the trail and say thanks to the property owners for working with the snowmobile club to make this happen!
